What you can ask HR for.

Each stage says where the rule comes from. A figure is shown only when the Conditions of Service states it.

The six stages below are the public account of the same lifecycle the workspace will use. Blank forms that are not in the policy library are not invented here.

I · Attract

Published vacancies are on Careers. The list is empty until Human Resources publishes one. The first release is for staff already at Central. An application from outside the University waits for legal review.

II · Recruit & hire

A published vacancy has a role, a grade or band label, a campus, a summary, responsibilities, requirements, and a closing date. The closing date is the date stored for that vacancy. There is no salary on the vacancy. The application form is on the site and does not submit yet.

III · Onboard

Probation is 12 months for all staff, and 6 months for certain positions and internal appointments. The supervisor recommends confirmation at the end. Termination during probation has its own procedure in the Conditions of Service.

Conditions of Service §5.0.

IV · Develop

Study leave with pay may run up to 3 years for a higher degree, subject to the qualifying conditions in the Conditions of Service. Appraisal uses two official instruments, one for academic staff and one for administrative staff. Both are in the policy library. A completed appraisal is strictly confidential. The online appraisal module is not open in this phase.

Conditions of Service §4.5. Appraisal instruments, 2026.

V · Reward & support

Annual leave is 30 working days for Senior Members, 25 for Senior Staff, and 20 for Junior Staff. Public holidays that fall inside the leave are added. The figures, and the other leave types, are on Forms with the section they come from. Payroll is a reference only. This site does not calculate pay.

Pension references are labels: SSNIT Tier 1, a Tier 2 manager, and Tier 3. The Tier 2 manager's name has not been supplied. No amount is shown.

Conditions of Service §4.1.

VI · Transition

Tenured Senior Members retire at 65. All other employees retire at 60. A post-retirement contract is applied for at least 6 months before retirement. Notice of resignation or termination is not less than 3 months for Senior Members and 1 month for other staff, or basic salary in lieu of notice.

Conditions of Service §§2.2, 3.8, 8.0, and 11.0. Retirement ages confirmed for publication on 30 October 2026.
